Coaches Wanted for 2026 Season
Hi Team!
Warmer weather is on the way, which means summer swim season is just around the corner!
The Dam West Dolphins are currently looking for teens interested in joining our coaching staff for the 2026 season. We are seeking mature swimmers ages 14 and up who are excited to support our athletes and assist the coaching team during practices and swim meets.

Assistant Coach
Pre-Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience swimming on the Dam West Dolphins swim team
- Previous experience working with children ages 4–19
- Available during June through late July
- Able to work morning practices from 7:30–9:30 AM
- Ability to instruct swimmers in a competitive swim team environment
- Current participant on a club team or high school swim team
Required Certifications
- Concussion Training
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/AED certification
- Current American Red Cross Advanced First Aid certification
Duties
- Attend all three morning practices and participate fully in your own practice
- Be punctual and prepared for practices, meets, staff meetings, and team events
- Help conduct swim practices in a safe, supportive, and competitive environment
- Actively assist swimmers with stroke technique during practices and meets
- Ensure swimmers are checked in and prepared for their events during meets
- Attend scheduled training sessions and staff meetings
- Promote team participation and positive team culture
- Enforce all facility rules and safety procedures
- Respond quickly to emergency situations
- Assist the Head Coach as needed
- Provide at least 7 days notice for planned absences
Expectations
Assistant Coaches are expected to model positive team behavior by:
- Wearing the team swimsuit (or team colors) and team cap
- Being on time and prepared
- Showing respect to coaches, swimmers, parents, officials, and competitors
- No phone use during practices
Junior Coach (Volunteer Position)
Pre-Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience swimming on the Dam West Dolphins swim team
- Previous experience working with children ages 4–19
- Available during June through late July
- Able to work morning practices from 7:30–9:30 AM
- Ability to instruct swimmers in a competitive swim team environment
Preferred Certifications
- Concussion Training (mandatory)
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
- CPR/AED certification
- Advanced First Aid certification
Duties
- Attend three morning practices and participate fully in your own practice
- Be punctual and prepared for practices, meets, staff meetings, and team events
- Help conduct practices in a safe and encouraging environment
- Assist swimmers with stroke technique and meet preparation
- Help ensure swimmers report to their heats on time
- Promote team participation and positive team culture
- Follow all facility safety rules and regulations
- Respond quickly to emergency situations
Expectations
Junior Coaches should set a strong example by:
- Wearing team gear and cap
- Being punctual and prepared
- Showing respect to coaches, swimmers, parents, officials, and opposing teams
- No phone use during practice
