    Weekly Updates

    Hello Dolphin Families!

Just some reminders for the upcoming week and general information.

Sign-Up for Swimmers for Saturday’s Meet: the deadline for signing up your swimmer(s) for Saturday’s meet is Wednesday, June 14 @ 12:00pm. Please use the Sign-Up Calendar.

Music in the Park: "Oddy & the Siren" will be playing in the greenbelt behind the pool on Wednesday, June 14 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Feel to join us. Bring a blanket and/or chairs, some food and drink and come enjoy some live, outdoor music! The Dolphins will be running a concession stand as a fundraiser as well. (We’ve never done this before so we’re testing it out.) If anyone would like to help set up or clean up you can sign up on the Sign-Up Calendar.  (Side note: there are no public bathrooms in the area.)

Stroke & Turn: For 8-10 year olds on Wednesday, June 14th from

    8:00pm – 8:45pm.

Stroke & Turn: For 11-18 year olds on Thursday, June 15th from 8:00pm – 8:45pm.

Pre-Meet Team Dinner: We had so much fun last Friday that we’re doing it again! All families are invited to join us on Friday, June 16th  from 5:00-6:00pm at the clubhouse for a pizza dinner and just hanging out and getting to know each other. Our goal this week is to introduce a few key people so that if you have questions during a meet, you know who to ask. (And at Home Meets you’ll know where to find them!) Afterwards we will start setting up for the meet. Stay to help. Stay to watch and see what it looks like. Or head home. Please use the Job Sign-Up to indicate what you’re bringing. You can add a written note under the RSVP.

Volunteers: Thank you so much to everyone that has already signed up! Wow! We still have a few slots that need to be filled. Please use the Sign-Up Calendar to see where you can help. You can also check the “Volunteer Position Descriptions” page to see what that job is or contact Candace Ellman at [email protected].

Photos: Our new team photographer, Laura Coupas, has been hard at work taking photos of the team during the meets. If you have any photos you would like to share, you can text them to her at (719) 494-5324 or email them to her at [email protected]. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR SWIMMER(S) NAMES & AGES if possible! (Please and Thank you!)

TEAM PHOTO!  Laura will take the Team Photo next Wednesday, June 21. Please arrive by 8:15am, sharp!   Please have your swimmer(s) wear their team suit if they have one.  We will get everyone lined up, get the picture and get everyone on their way. Laura would also like to take individual pictures if anyone is interested. (Completely optional.) If you’d like an individual picture taken, she will be available that day from 6:20am – 9:45am.

Check the Results During the Meet: During a meet the results are being printed out and posted. At our pool they are posted on a large, white board that hangs on the fence facing the parking lot - to the right of the bike rack. Results will be posted shortly after the end of a stroke. Ex: Event 48 is the last Backstroke event so all of the backstroke results will be posted shortly after that. Please check your swimmer(s) events periodically and if you find any problems or discrepancies let Coach Emilie know during the meet so that we can get them addressed asap.

Towels for Wet Chairs: There are white towels in the team shed behind the baby pool that were donated to the team for wiping off wet chairs in the morning. (Thank you, Effie Ginsberg!) There are also plenty of Lost & Found towels that can be used since no one is claiming them and they’ve been there for weeks. So, parents, feel free to go grab a towel in the morning and dry yourself a place to sit!

Breaking Down the Old Lane Reel: If there are any parents out there that are interested in a project during morning practice, our old lane reel is sitting in the grass next to the lifeguard shed and needs to be broken down and disposed of. (Or if you have other suggestions for what to do with it, I’m open to suggestions.) I don’t know how to break it down but someone suggested a hacksaw would do the trick.

Morning Practices:  Well, one of these days summer will show up.  In the meantime, make sure your swimmer(s) have warm clothing and sturdy shoes in case we end up doing dryland exercises in the morning. (We didn't realize it was going to be so cold this morning!)

That's all for now. I will be sending out the Meet details, Meet Program and Individual Entry Lists on Friday.
