    Meet Results for 6/19/21

Great first Home Meet, Dolphins! It felt a little rough out of the gate as we shook of the rust of missing a year but we found our groove!

Candace Ellman wanted to send out a special and extra big THANK YOU to everyone who not only volunteered but signed up early so that she wasn’t stressed all week and didn’t have to scramble on Friday looking for volunteers! It was truly awesome and much appreciated!

And I want to send a shout out to my Friday Night Set-Up people! I think we got most of it done in about an hour so THANK YOU! And another huge THANK YOU to the few but mighty that stayed behind to help clean up. We can still use more help afterwards. I know we’re ALL hot and tired and ready to go home so if we could get a little more help taking things down and putting them away at the end it would be wonderful and much appreciated.

MEET RESULTS: The Meet Results and Individual Entry Results are attached. The final score was:

    Hills West 388

    Dam West 380

Since we’ve been comparing numbers, Hills West had 51 to our 52. It was such a close meet! One more relay win and we might have won! Great job, Dolphins!

To see how your swimmer(s) did look at the Individuals Result Sheets. To figure out how to read them go to the “How To Read Individual Results” page under the “Meet Information” tab. My favorite part is that little * that means someone beat their own best time! (For new swimmers and new events, now you have a time to beat!) If you got an * you’ve earned a “dolphin dollar” worth 25 cents at our Home Meet concession stand!

ALL-STARS: Let’s see if I can get all the All-Stars today! Lauren Becerra added the 100 Free, new All-Star Claire Faulkner made it in the 100 Fly, Candyce Hill added the 200 IM, Gwen Horst added the 100 Free and the 200 IM, and Eric Kelly added the 100 Back! Congratulations to all of you!!

AWARDS: Ribbons and Dolphin Dollars will be in the gray, file folder Awards Box. The box can be found during morning practice times. To keep wet little hands off of the files, I encourage the parents or coaches to help find the file and hand the swimmers their ribbons. PLEASE LEAVE THE FOLDER IN PLACE!! If Sandra can’t find your folder you won’t get your ribbons!

VOLUNTEERS: I have opened up the Volunteer list for the June 26th home meet  against Clarke Farms. If you have any questions you can contact Candace Ellman at [email protected] .

TEAM PHOTO: Reminder that the Team Photo is THIS WEDNESDAY, June 23 at 8:45am. Wear your team suit if you have one.  Please be there on time!

SIGN-UP YOUR SWIMMER ASAP! The sign-up deadline for the next meet is Wed, June 23 @ 5:00pm. I thought it might be helpful to give everyone an idea of how things run behind the scenes so here is a rough breakdown of the timeline:

Wednesday by 5:00pm: Swimmer sign-up deadline.

Wednesday PM: Coach Emilie double checks and/or assigns events to all swimmers and puts together the relays. This takes time and planning.

Wed PM or Thurs early AM: Coach Emilie downloads the completed Entry files and sends them to the Meet Manager.

Thursday afternoon: The Meet Manager takes the entries from both teams and puts them together. The Meet Manager sends a preliminary program out to both team Coaches for review. Teams give the OK or make corrections.

Friday by 10:00am: Any corrections are fixed and Meet Manager manually starts combining events. Once events are combined there are no more changes. Once complete, the Meet Manager sends the final reports to the parent reps and coaches to be sent to the teams.

I’m explaining all this to stress the importance of telling us whether or not your swimmer(s) will be attending the meet by the deadline.  While it is possible to add them in on Thursday it is extra work for all of us and Coach Emilie will no longer be re-doing the relays to accommodate late additions.

With all of the things we have going on, please do us the favor of at least marking your swimmer “Attending” or “Not Attending” as soon as you can. You do not need to assign them to any events - Coach Emilie can do that. We just need to know if they will be there! So go now and let us know if your swimmer will be at NEXT Saturday’s meet!

OK, that’s it!  Great job, everyone!!  Now go enter your swimmer(s) “Attending” or “Not Attending” for Saturday’s meet!  Sign-ups close Wed, 6/23/21 at 5:00pm.  And Happy Father's Day weekend!
