    Updates for the Week!

I will send out more specific emails regarding Saturday's Meet SOON but for now here are some updates:

ALL-STARS: I missed an All-Star in my last email so I want to give a special shout-out to Gwen Horst for qualifying in ALL 3 of her individual events at our first meet!!

I've also added an “All-Stars” page under the “Meet Information” tab so everyone can see who has qualified and in which events. (I added 2019 as well but adding any more will have to be a winter project.)  If you see that I've missed anyone, please let me know!

VOLUNTEERS! Yep, you guessed it - we still need volunteers! Lots more volunteers! Below are the most urgent ones at the moment but they ALL need to be filled!  Please use the Sign-Up Calendar to sign up for a job.  Or 2.  Or 3.  Recruit your friends and neighbors!  It'll be fun!  :)

    • Scoring Table: File-Writer:This person will sit next to the Meet Manager near the starting blocks and work with the Meet Manager as the file-writer. This person watches the meet in "real time" and will take notes on each event. They will collect relay cards from the Heating Area volunteers and make notes regarding changes to every event such as scratches or lane switches. Usually one person does the entire meet (single shift) but we are offering it as 2 shifts this season. We would prefer to train someone into this position for the entire season (and even future seasons) if possible.
    • Head Timer: We need someone to run the “Timers Meeting” on Saturday morning. Should be someone familiar with the Dolphin System. Also, please remind all Timers that they need to stop the watch when ANY part of the swimmer touches the wall. The Stroke & Turn Judges will determine whether or not it was a DQ.
    • Scoring Table: These people sit in the officials area. They will visually confirm that swimmers are in the appropriate lanes for each heat and work with the File-Writer to confirm scratches and lane changes. At a home meet they are responsible for flipping the Event Number to indicate which event is currently in progress. They will run various errands such as posting results, collecting time sheets, taking DQ slips to appropriate team coaches and running information to and from the Scoring Table, the Starter, Heating Area and Meet Referee. They may also help with score verification by looking over the results and processing the DQ slips.
    • Scribe: Listens on the radio for disqualifications (DQs) from the officials and writes out the DQ slips.
    • Doughnuts: We still need a couple of volunteers to bring donuts to the Friday morning practices.  If staying to hand them out is a problem, please let me and Candace Ellman know.

TEAM PHOTO!When this season started we weren't sure if we'd be doing a team photo this year but we ARE!  We will be taking the team photo next Wednesday, June 23rd around 8:50am.  That will be at the end of the first practice and before the 2nd practice.  Teens can come back to the pool at that time or just come to the 9:00am practice that day.  Please wear your Team Swimsuit if you have one.

PHOTOS:  You will be receiving an email from our team photographer, Alisa Becerra.  She will be sending out an invite to a google shared folder for everyone to drop and share their photos.  She is working on trying to get photos of every swimmer so she would appreciate any photos that you have.  And sharing them sooner, rather than later, will help her out tremendously so she can see who she has and who she's still missing before she runs out of opportunities to get a picture of them for our year-end slideshow!

The email and link will come from her email address: [email protected] so be sure to keep an eye out for it and check your spam folders.

Stay tuned for more information about our first Home Meet!
